Sharp spearheaded a media and collector cultivation event for our client Botto, the pioneering decentralized AI artist, with SuperRare, the digital art market on Ethereum where Botto’s works are exclusively sold. Set at SuperRare’s Pop Up Gallery in Soho, the special event was designed to spotlight the unique artistic practice of Botto and celebrate AI in the art world.
Marking Botto’s first exhibition in New York City, the one-night solo exhibition presented 15 works by Botto. Governed by more than 5,000 human stakeholders through a DAO, Botto’s creation process is informed by community voting. To get a deeper sense of this process, the public had the rare chance to interact with unminted works via a dedicated voting app on-site.
Guests also had the opportunity to hear from experts in the crypto art world including German artist Mario Klingemann, pioneer of AI art and creator of Botto; multi-faceted artist Anna Condo; and SuperRare Managing Editor Vinny Valenzuela on a panel moderated by SuperRare Associate Curator Mika Bar-on Nesher. The discussion examined autonomous art collecting, the NFT market, and connections between the traditional art world and crypto space and was followed by a cocktail reception and an opportunity to mingle with the artists and panelists.
The launch brought together more than 50 AI-, crypto-, and art-enthusiasts and garnered interest from ARTnews, Cool Hunting, Hypebeast, and Surface. Resulting coverage included:
